As hard as it is to fathom that we are in a whole new year, we have to start preparing for another holiday! I actually love Valentines Day. Cliche? I’m ok with that.
I genuinely get all into my feelings around Valentines Day and find myself reflecting on my gratitude towards the loved ones in my life.
Valentines day isn’t just for your significant other, you know! It’s important for our kids to not only see that we love each other, but we also want them to experience the sweet sentiment of valentines day as well. I don’t want me daughter growing up thinking it’s a day intended for her to be lavished on, but a day that she puts in some thought, and effort into as well. The same can be said for my son, I want him to learn to be intentional with girlfriends and future wife, and see that it’s so much more than just chocolates and cards, although there’s nothing wrong with those things if done from the heart.
One of the ways we start this is by having the kids help with their valentines day cards. As much as I love the cute cards from the store, I also like the simple ones that are cute, sweet, and just a print a click away without having to throw on clothes, and battle the other elementary school Moms. I also the TO: section on the store bought cards. Why? Because – do they really need them? But it seems so impersonal when they’re left blank but I don’t expect my Kindergartener to walk around and read every name on each card, and drop it in their specific box. That’s a lot of work for kids. So I have made some printable versions that only have a FROM: section (which is editable with Microsoft word).
I hope you enjoy these printable valentines cards as much as I did making them. Hole punch them for an easy lollipop insert, glue a piece of candy to it, or tie it to a bag, it’s totally up to you!
